The Mini Microcinema presents…

WHO’S WORLD IS THIS? / THE SCREEN IS YOURS

SUMMER 2017 - YOUTH FILM CRITICISM WORKSHOP

What better way to escape the heat and celebrate the head-nodding dreams of summer than a five-week camp dedicated to remixing film criticism with sampling techniques associated with classic hip-hop? Kicking things off with The Hip-Hop Fellow, a documentary feature about music producer 9th Wonder’s fellowship at Harvard University, participants (ages 12-17) will watch a mad and trippy selection of filmed content from a variety of styles/genres and take notes in their very own film journals with the aim of learning how critics combine film snippets, song lyrics, and other cultural elements into engaging personal opinion pieces. By the end of the five-week camp, participants will create a critical mixtape of film commentary. With the world of references at your disposal (and the skills to lay a solid foundation), the screen really will belong to this budding generation of critics.
